Trilogy is my first real attempt to complete a grouping of
cabs in a manner similar to what a metalworker would do. Usually
when a beadworker uses multiple cabs in their work, it involves a large
majority of bead embroidery to tie those cabs into a cohesive theme. What
I wanted to do was to make the beadwork and the cabs equal partners in the
piece.
In Trilogy, 3 cabs are connected with minimal lines of beadwork to make
a piece that has movement as well. The top cab of gasperite was cut
by Joe Jelks and is in a
bezel of dark silver charlottes. Accents at the top of the
piece consist of 3 hand carved gasperite beads. The second cab of
limonite was also cut by Joe and is connected to the first cab with a double connections of more
gasperite and charlotte beads. The final cab consists of a flat back
freshwater pearl, again connected with charlottes and a final gasperite
bead.
This piece may be worn as a pin or as a pendant.
