"I'm waiting for my close-up" |
I love the beach. I do. I really do. So it
seemed logical that my beaded figure would be a mermaid. Mom and I
found the fabric at a local craft store and thought that it would be
perfect for the mermaid's figure.
As far as beads go, there are various amounts of the following:
size 15, 11, 8, 6, 15 hex, 8 hex, triangles, magatamas, drops, size 1
bugles, heishi, pearls, shells, shell-shaped sequins, and probably even
some others that I don't remember. |

Here she is lying in my Mother's hand so you can see her
size. Her lips are a piece of coral |

Here is a view from the back. You can really see her
hair (which is actually quite heavy). Individual strands are filled
with pearls, seashells and bits of shells |

|

Sweeping her hair aside, you can see her curvy back.
Not a skinny mermaid at all |
Her official title is:
Taking a Rest: Mermaid on the Rock

The end of her tail is actually composed of 2 pieces, and
can actually move (just the flipper part). Her tail also has pearls
and shells on it.

The rock itself is also embellished. The mermaid leans on it as
she hugs a seashell or two. And, of course, she wears a beaded
necklace with a white pearl centerpiece. |

Here is a close-up of the curvy rump of this maiden.
Translucent colorful sequins in shell shape overlap in areas like scales,
allowing the beadwork to show through. |

A close-up of her hand shows green pearls. |
