Buttons
Home Up Buttons Unikite White Onyx Crystyllys

Earlier this year, I got the chance to take a class from Cynthia Rutledge.  The one that I chose was Buttons.  She showed us various ways to turn plain old, everyday buttons into works of art.

The button with a bird is actually a plastic button that I bought at the fabric store.  It already had a design on the front of leaves, so I added gray seed bead in a size 11 and 15.  Next the ruffle was created, and finally, I added the bird.

The other button I used was a paua shell button (but she showed us how to make buttons out of cabs).  Again, seed beads in size 11 and 15 were used. This class is lots of fun, and she gives you instructions for more button patterns.

Now, all I have to do is make the necklaces to go with them.

Here are my two buttons from the class.

Not For Sale

This little button got beads and a
mother-of-pearl bird added to it.

This shell button was enhanced with beads in a
pattern that Cynthia calls Seaweed Twist (I think).
