Bead Quilt in Houston
Home Up BBB Bead Retreat Tribute to Dad Bead Quilt in Houston Tribute to Whittaker

I was lucky enough to get to see The Bead Quilt when it was on display at the 2002 Houston Quilt Festival.  The Bead Quilt was created in response to the tragic events of September 11, 2001.  Pictures cannot begin to show the depth of this work.  Over 500 people from around the world created 3" x 3" squares of beaded art that were joined together to make these quilts.  Many people were moved to tears upon viewing them.  Some people had friends and loved ones that they lost that day.

Before they go on permanent display in their final homes, they are traveling the country in order that as many people can view them as possible.

Here is a panorama view of the Bead Quilts.  They made up into 9 different panels.
